These tolerate all but very dry conditions and are useful for a range of sites from a shady border to a woodland setting.
The selection offered are all good for a woodland situation or a partially shaded border with moist, humus-rich soil. Having said that D. spectabilis will tolerate full sun happily as long as the soil is reliably moist.
Closely allied to Polygonatum, the pendent bell shaped flowers are solitary or produced in pairs from the leaf axils. Grow in a woodland garden or peat bed in moist, humus rich but well drained soil.
