Grasslike foliage overtopped in summer by pendent, funnel or bell-shaped flowers on long, slender, arching stems. Grow tall varieties at the back of a border or by a pond or stream and shorter ones at the front of a border or in a rock garden. All prefer humus-rich, well drained soil and a sheltered position in full sun. Young plants are slow to establish, but once settled are trouble free.
